FOREWORD
Due to the continuously increasing number of antibiotic-resistant pathogens, the treatment of infectious diseases is an increasing challenge for clinicians. It is not only important to know the pathogen and resistance spectrum. The effects of the individual substances on the development of resistance must also be taken into account. In order to take into account current developments in the development of resistance at the UKH and new aspects of anti-infective therapy, a revision of the anti-infective guidelines became necessary after almost 3 years. With a few personnel changes, the working group came together again and, after evaluating microbiological data and changes in antibiotic consumption, completely revised the guidelines. The focus of the 2nd edition was to give targeted recommendations for the de-escalation of a calculated initial therapy and thus to reduce the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics.

We are pleased that you are interested in our guidelines beyond the clinic and ask all colleagues for their suggestions and additions, which we will be happy to collect for the next issue.

The anti-infectives guide was approved by the hospital board in January 2015 and thus has the character of a service instruction. Deviations are only permitted for medical reasons and the reasons must be documented in writing in the patient file. If anything is unclear, an infectious consultation should be obtained immediately.

The present content has been created exclusively for use at the University Hospital Halle. Use outside the university hospital is not recommended.
